If you are on a DIET, run fast from this post

Because you will gain weight just looking at this beauty:

It's a Gyro burger from Nick's Gyro.   Hand made pita bread, with a broiled beef patty, American cheese, and mushrooms.  Salted to taste with Greek seasoning hand made by the owner, Shaun.  He loves to use The weatherman and I as Guinea pigs of his new inventions.  It was soo big, I ate some, Little Dude ate some and so did the weatherman, and it wasn't even the full size he was to serve once he got it just right.  You eat at Nicks you pay to be fed well.  If you go away hungry, you are either a pig or didn't really eat there!  Side note this is the same place that has Little Dude as their "spokes-kid."

So I'm board and need to clean out pics soo...

Here are some tee-shirts I like:

Please Tell Me I'm Adopted.  I got this and the next short at the craft fair last weekend.  Did I get crafty stuff there, well I think who ever made these up are crafty...no?  Bite me, like I need more shat in the house!

Here was the one thing I was tempted to get at said crap-fair:

I like this shirt because it goes well with with my Tinkerbell pants.  I bought the lime green version though.

Come on, it's FUNNY!

Tis' the season.

Here is the non-season version.

Story of my freaking life!

I am all about getting this for my BFF!  Ho, ho, ho, Slappy!

Let's be honest, it's how I (rock &) roll.

Prob my favorite!

My Personal Hell aka Snowed In

So Mother Nature is being a vindictive Be-yotch to Nebraska for some reason.  I think may have something to do with the western part of the state crying drought for the last several years (just ask the good people of Atlanta who were complaining just this summer about running out of water, now they have more then enough water!) or the fact Lincoln gave a vote to Obama, either way she decided to put the smack-down on our arses.
Starting on October 10th with this crap:

After that it warmed up the month of November, we were wearing shorts people, shorts!  So the precursor was on Sunday night about 2 inches and very cold weather rolled in like the in-laws you try so hard to avoid but come anyways.

My furball was not amused...at first.   Little Dude however was amused, a lot!

Doesn't look so bad does it?               Little Dude took to tossing snowballs at the doors.
Only to kind of warm up Monday during the day, but not before they postponed school opening till 10am.  WTH, it wasn't that bad out! The gates of frozen hell opened up wide later that night.  Flurries, kind of pretty were flying then BOOM, the wind came.  By Tuesday Morning school was already called off, as expected due to the blowing snow, not quite in the dumping of snow.  That was to some starting about 10am and rocking it till Wednesday.  I had to shovel so Sully could go outside.  30minutes later the whole thing was blown over.  6 ties I had to shovel for the dog.  AND his stupid arse jumped into the snow piles that were over Little Dudes head.  he floundered around like a fish on a hook till I thought he learned his lesson, and went out 3 times to get him.  It took 3 times.  They learn so fast in this house don't the, damn!  So school was off till Thursday morning.  I was locked in the house with little dude both days and Wednesday with the weatherman too.  It was hell.  Weatherman admitted he was in a pissy mood and used that as an excuse to make out lives a living hell the whole day.

So those were from my phone, now on to the real camera photos.

So this was Tuesday morning, doesn't look so tough does it?

Here is about couple hours later at 2 o'clock-ish I know they are in this blog too, but really 4-6 foot drifts in a couple of hours are a BIG deal!

I let the boys play outside for a little bit.  I had to shovel as you can see as the weatherman was at work.  They got 10 minutes before the wind decided for them it was time to go inside.  Within the hour it was like I never shoveled.  Blah!

Butter Toffee

I acquired this recipe from my friend Marla.  I of course tweaked it to make it more Krimsin. This time I am making the candy for a bake sale at Little Dude's school so, I made it thinner so there would be more.

Butter Toffee

1lb of butter (I use salted butter)*
2cups of sugar
1 to 2 large Hershey bars**

In a Heavy Skillet, melt butter, add sugar, cook over Medium heat till hard-crack (297degrees).
Pour into greased cookie sheet.  Spread thin.  When cooled, spread melted sugar over the top.

*and I am going to see it truly you need that much to cook as I always am removing the access from the top at the end.)
**The 1st time I used one and a half this time you will see I used 1 bag of mint chocolate chips as well as the other 1/2 of the candy bar.

Here is a play by play of sorts of how it all went down:

Just before Soft-Ball stage on the thermometer

At the Hard-Ball stage

Soft-Crack stage

And of course what I was waiting for the Hard-Crack stage.  Note it is browner then when you started out.  Time to spread it out!

I spread it out this time on a large cookie sheet (last time I used a medium sized sheet for thicker pieces)

So this is 1/2 a large Hershey bar (Milk Chocolate) and 1 bag of Nestle Mint chocolate chips.  They are in my Pampered Chef Mini Micro-cooker.  I cooked them after the toffee was cooled for a total of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, stirring 1/2 way through.

So here they are all drenched in chocolaty yumminess!
Enjoy!

Ticks Me Off Tuesday

Not so bad Monday, after the 1st wave, right?  Mother Nature decided to be a be-yotch and let loose in the evening.  I had the Dish Network guy here rewiring for 2 HD receivers, instead of one.  Weatherman's idea again.  As soon as he left, I started making butter toffee which turned out surprisingly well.  No injuries unlike dinner, more on that later...

So by 2pm on Tuesday, I had this view out my garage.  FAIL!
This was the view out the front door! Umm yep I made the executive decision I was not going to be shoveling at all this snow event.  Nope, no way in H-E double hockey sticks.  Putting my foot down...

Too bad the Little Dude and Sully felt the need to go out.  Sully really had a pseudo reason, you know the whole having to do his bid-ness.  While Little Dude wanted to go frolic in the freezing cold.  Weirdo! So, since the weatherman had to stay over at work for some reason, I had to bust out the big shovel and made A path.  And told the dog to stick to it, because I wasn't going to bail his ass out of the snow that was over his head.*

While playing outside they decided to have a snow tossing contest.  I expected Little Dude to won.  The whole having the apposible thumb and hands thing, you know.  Sully had differing ideas and coaxed Little Dude over to the dark his side, and tripped him!

Logan got his revenge without even having to touch Sully.  So after the third time of having rush out without a coat to bail his stubborn stupid ass out of the path.  Ok, so MAYBE it was all blown over.  But really, it shouldn't blow over in an hour, nor does he need to go out 3 times in an hour.
Dinner I usedmy new deep dish Pampered Chef cooker, I think I'm in love.  I tossed frozen chicken, sauce, in the oven and baked for an hour.  Sounds simple, but you know me as I checked the sauce and was redistributing it IT happened.  It being the kid, and the dog come careening through, my hand in the dish right?  Picture a spoon full of sauce,  my hand touching the over 400 degree side, reaction is to get your hand out of there ASAP right?  Yep, my awesomeness is no different.  But I kept spoon in hand still sauced of course.  Hit square in my face, and hair.  Ouch, right?  It was way worse when I tried to get it out of my hair and realized it was scalding my f-ing scalp!    About summed up the day.

I have had it up to here with the snow.  God is punishing me for something, canceling school for a mere 12 inches of blowing snow and no visibility.  Can they stop thinking about the flipping children and think about those who actually pay their salaries.  Sheeze!  There so better be school tomorrow, if not the offspring is going to spend the day at work with Daddy.  Shat, he's off.  I am being punished! My mantra for the night is:  Please Let There Be School, Please Let There Be School, Please Let There Be School.  I think you get the idea.
Weatherman Mother Nature you get my Tick Me Off Tuesday.

  • Totally Tick Me Off Tuesday is the brain child of Mommy from the Midwest.  Check out her blog, and look for more people who participate in TTMOT!  This is her "award" to those who Tick us off weekly.  I posthumously award it this week to all of those who have ticked us off!

And the Winner is...Me Times 3!

So even though I have been lacking in posts over the last couple weeks, by devoted minions have felt it necessary to either bully me here by threats and insults on facebook you know who you are and I know where your punk ass lives... or have decided bribery is the best way to cocks me out of my rabbit hole.  Bribery works so does the fact all my classes are done till mid January leaving me time to clean the house, blog, play on the Wii, write more of my books & annoy all my twitter friends.educate the offspring and be the perfect wife we all know I am not.

So lets get this ball rolling.  First I would like to thank you all for reading and putting up with my disjointed, mostly borderline rude writings!  Without you I would still be here, just typing and laughing to myself.  And that's just kind of a creepy picture isn't it? <--Hahaha, look another tangent...
*************************************************************

This beauty came from Confessions From A Working Mom -She's honest and straight forward with her posts.  And isn't shy about talking about the balancing act of trying to be a Mom and a career.  Thank you Elizabeth!  If you don't have this award, please steal it for your own.  Congrats for reading the fine print as to how to get it.  Hard work huh?
******************************************************

I know I am so darn cute, but to honor me with this award...wait it's for my blog.  Snap!  J/K This puppy is from Life's a Beach whose pic as soon as her blog loads taunts me with it's serenity.  Let's be honest, you love my blog cause you are a Roll Tide fan, fess up!  You 'Bama folk can't get enough of my name.
There are rules for this one, and I will be good and follow them.
The rules for accepting the 'Gorgeous Blogger' award are to share six things you don't know about me, and to pass the award on to six other Gorgeous Bloggers:
  1. The origin of my name.  Mommy Dearest comes up with a differing story every time I asked in my youth.  I figure it's from the song Crimson & Clover, but as an uneducated teen parent she spelled it phonetically.  Either way it's fitting, unique as the person carrying the name and not quite right  I guess.
  2. I once threatened to drown a fellow guard at the local pool.  He was a smarmy asshole who didn't take his job seriously.  You slack off while kiddos or anyone for that matter are in the pool, lives could be lost.  He thought nothing of the threat I would toss him in and see how he felt, till I came at him and checked him into the water because I was sick to death of his trash talk.  He was taken by surprise that A: I could do it.  (Please I may be short, but I am solidly built and grew up with wrestlers as friends, I know how to take someone bigger then me out) B: I could get away with doing it in front of our boss.  The boss approved because she couldn't/wouldn't put him in his place.  After that, I threatened, staff there wondered if I would back it up again.  Moral, if you talk shat, be able and willing to back it up.
  3. Some of my old readers know I am sloowly writing a set of novels/ novellas.  They are a series.  You can find old drafts by looking for the sneak peak under the blog labels.  By slowly I mean like sloth slow.  It's not writers block I have, just the time to devote to them with school and life they get shelved.  Wayward Souls was my first, and has been gutted since posting it.  It's a who done it, till the end.  Because like me, a book can never be that simple.  I'll Be Home, will be the prequel to Wayward and begin the character crossovers and essential background.
  4. I actually used to be tight with the MIL, like almost BFF tight.  Then had little dude and I because the shatiest person in the world.  There are times she is cool again, but I think she was much calmer when she was still drinking.  There is something to be said about that, see #5.
  5. I surprisingly don't consume alcohol at all.  I haven't since November 14th, 1997.  It's a personal choice.  I try not to judge too strongly others choices as long as they respect mine as well.
  6. I made Phi Theta Kappa which is an International Honors Society for those seeking 2 year degrees.  You have to have at least a 3.5 to be considered, I had a 3.89.  Now all I have to do is keep a 3.25 to stay active.  I hope to.  Oh and did I mention my 2 year program was realistically spread out over 9 semesters! lol!
Now to spread the love to 6 others:
  1. Ramblings of a Crazy Momma- She has stellar giveaways which I have never won, but still think are cool.  And her posts and tweets crack me up!
  2. Tattytiara-even though half the time her blog won't let me post comments I think she secretly has a no psycho filter or something her blog posts are a RIOT, and I can't get enough of them!
  3. Domestically Challenged- Come on, the title alone made me HAVE to read her blog.  The content sealed my devotion to reading her every post!  The fact poor grammar doesn't bug her, makes me think I was totally jipped when I was a sit in class student.
  4. I Wonder Wye- From serious to just flat out funny, her blog never fails to leave me feeling as if I left enlightened in one way or another.  I wonder why?  She's that good, that's why!  A little fact for you, that super cute witch on her button, is a pic of her.  I know coolness.
  5. Smell the Coffee Lisa - Cute family, fur family and all around awesome blogger, letting you peak into her world.  One of my favorite blogs to follow.
  6. Take Me the Way I Am - This is an on top of it bloggity goddess.  She does all sorts of day themed blogs, and still finds the time to create super cool jewelry, and regular blogs.  I envy her ability.
*********************************************************************

So lets be honest, right now you are like super jealous of me for having this.  I know I was when I saw it the first time on someones blog!  Speaking From the Crib so graciously bestowed this award on me and I was all trying to play it cool but inside was all like Squeeeee!!  I have read her blog for a while now, and her posts are first rate and right up my alley humor wise.  Thank you for the awesome award, I will try to live up to it!  Hell, I may use this as my Twitter pic for a bit.

I am going to pass on this lovely one to The Unpopular Opinion.  Because, Jenn is the sizznit, and bad ass herself!  'nuf said.
************************************************
Thank you all for the bloggity love and for reading.  I am out of classes for a while and will try hard to keep up on your blogs and here to keep you entertained!  Muah!
