Mmmm chocolate!

Since both Stacie's Madness and I Hate Whine did the quiz, I thought WTH.

The Chocolate Oracle Says You're Mellow

You are sweet, mellow, and easily satisfied.

You don't like anything too intense and dramatic.

Deep down, you're a kid at heart... and you're nostalgic for the past.

You are mellow, spiritual, and philosophical.

You are a true humanitarian. You enjoy helping people.

Your heart can be too open at times. You sometimes over-extend yourself.

You love new adventures and activities. You enjoy living a full life, even if it is chaotic.

You feel lost when things are quiet. You rather not think... you prefer to just do!

Ticks Me Off Tuesday

My rant is really a rather simplistic one for the week, but to me it is a biggie.  Logan is small, he is also likely one of if not the youngerst in his class.  He is intellectually, and socially ready for school, he was at 4 according to the doctors.  With that being said, in rural hell around here and alarmingly many other places people are waiting to have their kids (mostly boys) enter school till they are 6 years of age.  I asked around it totally miffed me here were the answers I got going from bullshit to are you fecking kidding me, to the meat and cheese of it all:

1.The Bullshit- Boys are not "emotionally" mature enough at 5 to start school. <--umm are they ever mature enough, come on!  Back when I started school, you were 5 your arse was in school, period.

2. Are you Fecking kidding me?  "I can't part with my baby, I'm not ready!"  <---WTF, are you not secure in the way you raised the kid to let him go to the next step in life?  Cut the umbillical cord and stop smothering the poor kid you future mother-in-law from hell...

3. I want him big enough to play and be great at football. I want my kid to be bigger and beefier and break the compition.  Get a scholarship to Nebraska, play ball there and get drafted to the NFL.  He's our retirement plan.  <--Yep I think that is the meat and cheese of it all, right there folks.  I did all I could to not laugh straight in this womans face.  That is not parenting, it's a pipe dream.  A stupid scary one at that!

(Yes, I know wrong sport!  Right message though!)
In closing, I know my son is small, I am not exactly leggy at 5'3", and Corey is 5'11", but our kid is smart, witty, and just all around cute and awesome!  So don't be parent #3 and ask why I put my kid into school so young.  He is an old souls and can out run your stupid big kid.  I could care less if he plays football when he gets older, hell I would rather him not.  Who knows, Logan could one day be your brutes lawyer trying to get him off on a misdemeanor battery charge. He wants to be an actor (oh God no, please!), a rock star (ehh, I think he figures he can take Dean's position when her retires someday.  Dear son, they are not like The Wiggles and just replace main people when they leave...uh never mind, they do, you could have a shot someday!), an astronomer (can't tell he's MY kid can you), and elementary school principle (if so be a small conservative and rural school, or his already staunch political views, and kiddie crush on Palin will get him in TROUBLE!).  All encompassing ideals for the future, not based on size of his body, but on size of his heart.  Just in that unrealistic dream of a 5 year old boy, I know we did something right in raising him!

Moral of ramble, (other then shut the hell up about my kid that is) in the real world, we rely on brains, not always brawn to get by.  So welcome to Earth, and I know the adjustment maybe rough for you and your big dreams of riding you kid into the ground raising the next up and coming football star, but leave my kid out of your insanity.  Because other than size and a year (or two for the two 7 year old held back from last year in his class), your kid's got NOTHING on mine.

On to the Friend's Totally Tick Me Off Tuesday stuff!

AT&T you are becoming my gripe with Twitter to Marsha. (We don't have you out here, or I would likely dislike you too.)  As many of my readers know now, Marsha, aka @Marsha117 is one of my friends from Atlanta.  We met through the band Collective Soul twittering between all of us.  That's what you get when a band actually communicates back and forth, they get  even more loyalty from fans.  Us fans forge friendships we otherwise wouldn't have likely made.  Thanks again guys!  I have offered her and any other friends some space on my blog to rant, and add to the fun of Tick Me Off Tuesday.  So far she is the only brave soul to submit her gripes.  So, there will always be room on here for her!

Any-who, unless you have been in the spin cycle too long many of you know the record rain fall the Atlanta area got about two weeks ago.  It was so bad they are no longer in a drought, and Six Flags theme park was over 6 feet under water!  Phone service and power was an issue as is when all disasters strike.  But I really think AT&T has raised the bar recently in ineptitude.  This is straight from one resident of Atlanta's mouth, or tweet:

My Ticks me off list is growing! AT&T for starters! Trying 2 tell me that being online will cause my phone 2 go 2 voice mail! WRONG! I have no land line now because of the rain-wonderful! could be worse, I do realize that. But AT&T just chaps my hide! So AT&T comes out on Friday to make sure that land line works and cuts the cable to the internet! How incompetent can they be? (REALLY you want ME to go there? Alright.

Funny thing is -at the Ga Tech football game - we overhear people complaining how AT&T can't get their internet to work!

So here's my #2 TMOT for the MONTH! it'll take several tweets! So, remember how I said I won tix to the @ThisisRobThomas concert? So, I called the radio station to find out how to pick up my tix for the @ThisisRobThomas concert which is this Wed in ATL.   The DJ who was working that Friday nite I supposedly won the tix to the @ThisisRobThomas concert, wrote my name on the wrong list!  So, long story short-this radio station wouldn't admit their error & had no more tix for @ThisisRobThomas to give away.  I'm more pissed that they wouldn't admit their error than the fact that I'm not going to the concert. It's the principle of it. so, that's my story.I'm disappointed that I won't get 2 see @ThisisRobThomas because of station's error, but worse could happen.I had to tweet this story this a.m. because Rob Thomas actually tweeted me when I won the tix and said that he hoped I that I won the upgrade and that he "would see me there"  So even though I'm really okay with not going, I'm hoping that he sees the tweets and maybe does something for me.  Doubtful, but you never know. I might be pleasantly surprised!

***Addendum to post:****  Her hubby, "MrMarsha117" realized how distraught she was and bought her 5th row tickets.  What a guy!

First of all I have a bit of experience with the goings on inside a radio station.  So it was back in '97-98 but I am sure the nuts and bolts haven't changed too drastically.  If you were an on-air winner, it should have been taped.  Period.  Likely could be found on said DJ's sound check, anytime their mic is hot(on), it should be recording for critiquing purposes.   That being said you should be able to talk to the station manager about the "mix-up" and have a tape, reel, or digital copy of the win as evidence.  I know it is not about the tickets, as much as the principle.  And it is dead wrong.   The DJ is a moron, and the fact they don't play Collective Soul makes me honestly dislike them even more.  Why the hell were you listening to them???  Oh yea...never mind.  Though I have seen hotter, and that is so all I am saying...

Third idiots who sit in parking lots w/car doors open blocking an open space. <--I consider the worst and there is a drug dealio going down, or they are stalking you, and about to kidnap you.  Either way, they are likely packing heat, so use caution my dear!

A new edition to the fun this week is my pal over in Germany, Christina aka christinah84!

What´s ticking me off right now are people who never call back even though you left a trillion messages.

See, girlie I would totally pick up your call. I think you rock!

I think personalized ringers are the best thing in the world.  For instance, my mother's ring tone is the theme from the movie "Psycho," my MILs is theme from "Tales From the Crypt."  I hear them, I let it go to voice mail most of the time to avoid the headaches.  Moral is not that they are avoiding the call from you, but that you intimidate them.  Hell I am still shocked the Kindle people even take my calls after the rows I have had with them.  Can you see the fear in dudes eyes in the picture below.  I didn't draw this at all drew this while you were calling just to ask a routine question.   I would just go and give them a piece of mind in person, if not be totally mature, personalize ring tone the arse-hat that isn't returning your call.  When they finally call back, don't pick it up!

I know it defeats the purpose, but here you are, the great dane, and here's the other dude.

For those who missed it earlier

Logan was on Tv again Friday, this time talking about one of the classes I put him in when school was out for the day.  Here is the link from the local tv station.  Me being the stellar parent I am had no idea he was even interviewed, one of our elderly neighbors actually emailed me to say how cute he looked.  I had to laugh.  Go Logan.  He also made it into the paper for the same thing.  No interview, it was more of a Where's Waldo thing where he just "happened" to get into the picture.  Yeah right, and I am only "a little" opinionated, either way I think it is darling and he is stoked!

Week In Review

It seems like I was just scrambling to get last weeks done and it's Sunday again.  Wow, it's kind of like when you avoid a pile of laundry.  You look away for a seconds, and I'll be damned if it didn't just double in size!

Fall has arrived.  That means the winds from the feedlot are all the more pungent, but only when our windows are open.  Hmmm.  It also means Pumpkin Spice candles are in full effect to counter the rankness.  My favorite time of year, if I am heavily allergy medicated.   I am missing LaCrosse like mad right now.  Turning of the colors and of course Oktoberfest!

Logan had a short week this week.  In Logan that means not enough school, so try our best to drive mom insane.  Yea, he about succeeded.  I totally threatened him today, if he didn't behave the rest of the day I wouldn't let him go to school tomorrow.  As empty of a threat it was, so far as I type it is working. He did however managed to get his mug in the Saturday edition of the Tribune AND get interviewed on KHAS for the All About Bats class he attend on Friday.  My little media hound!

I took a day off of studying on total accident.  I went over to the neighbors and we talked for several hours killing her cleaning and my studying.  I don't think either of us were all too upset.  Tara is the flippin' hilarous.  I would almost call her a girlie friend.  GASP, I know...

Took a morning trip to Cabelas and Target.  We looked for jackets at Cabelas, I think Corey is getting one, I still want a longer one with a hood.  Corey can't decided between the camo or white camo.  So, my bet is by the end of winter he will have both, I'm just sayin'!  The whole trip we only bought things for Logan, go figure.  A couple Magic Tree House books and some yogurt snacks.  The whole trip was to get the books I didn't have in the series yet.  Were they there, of fecking course not!  I forgot I wasn't in a populated area.  So off to Ebay to see if I can find the ones we are missing.  I found a killer deal to close in about 2 hours about 20 books for 10 bucks.  A steal oh HELL yea!  Any repeats have already been promised to my nephew who's mother would rather drink and toke up any books she should get for her son.  Grrr...

I have taken several test this week and hope to take a unit test tonight for Med Terms.  Legal Aspects Unit test sometimes next week and several labs for computers should at least be looked at!  Hell if I am feeling saucy, I may even open the Computers book to do the next test.  But, that doesn't mean I will read the book, just open it!  I am taking my facility tour @ Mary Lanning on Tuesday.  I am getting graded on questions I ask, how I present myself, etc.  Oh joy, time to bust out the BS smile and public persona.  I think I can for an hour, and I will pander for good grades when I have too!

Now for job updates on Corey.  Yes, we are still put out for the LaCrosse lead job.  When he called to talk to his old boss there, to explain why he was trying to lateral back, Glenn asked why he wasn't a WCM (a manageral media contact called Warning Coordinating Meteorologist).  Corey said he was putting out for Spokane at the same time, yep busted!  So, Glenn is going to try to get him the job in Spokane.  I think the LaX job isn't gonna happen.  But maybe, Glenn will pull him back.  Who the hell knows knows.  He Spokane would trump LaX.  Confusing, try living it!  Spokane closes Monday at 11pmCST.  So, I hope within the next month we know.  Do we stay here, go to LaX, or Spokane.  If we stay Logan will begin Tae Kwon Do,  I may join one of the local dance troupes.  Both are on hold while Corey bids out.

Honestly there hasn't been much of note.  So sorry for the blandness, so is life.

I swear my husband didn't post this

It was from one of the blogs I follow.  Yes, I follow some weird blogs, and spend too much time reading them.  What else should I be doing...studying?  I think not!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

Since I can't do the whole "Wordless Wednesday," so I am doing

I have to read all of these this semester.  Every flipping page of all the books need to be read, and will be tested on multiple times.  So when you wonder where I am, look no further then here.

And all I have to say about that is...

For our Fuzzy friend!

I saw it and couldn't resist.

Ticks Me Off Tuesday

It's been a long and busy week.  Things I would like to address this week.  OCD's and how to deal with a member in the family who has them in the most spiteful loving way possible.  School vacation days.  being damned if you do, damned if you don't.

  • School vacation days, loved by most kids.  MOST kids, my kid is not most kids.  He hated not being in school Labor day, well this week he is out Thursday at noon, to come back Monday.  He doesn't hate being here, it's I think it is the atmosphere there.  The interactions with people.  He is a true extrovert, in that I have to find ways to keep him around people.  Kind of hard when I have a pile of my own shat I have to get done.  Thursday, I will being him out to Nick's and let everyone swoon over him for an hour while he eats.  Friday TG the local museum is holding a class about Bats for kids.  It's 2 hours long, Friday.  I think he will have a blast, Corey will be at work so bickering should be at a minimum.  For some reason you add Corey, Logan, and me, Logan becomes an arse.  Logan and I can do quite well together.

  • I am in a precarious position, I am married to a high maintenance man who has mild to mid level Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.  This is the man who takes about 10 minutes putting on lotion after every shower and bath (3-4 a day).  He used to line up vacuum cleaner tracks too.  Vacuum as we went out the door.  And don't even get me started on his "process" to leave the house for more than a couple hours... Earlier the week he went to new heights once again, he bought a book on Amazon, brand new.  He opened the package he scoured over it, finding where the price sticker was he freaked out wondering what it was.  IT was shaped JUST LIKE a sticker!  He pulled out one of our many cans of disinfectant and wait for it......sprayed down both sides of the book.  Later he did it again!  I live with many of the idiosyncrasies, but my life is  pretty much controlled by it.  I am not allowed to do certain things.  Criminal Profiling, nope maniac could come to our door step.  Good bye dream since was a kid.  Doctor, nursing, are you kidding me?  GERMS!  It was hell coming home from life guarding if I had any types of rescues.  So, I find something where there is NO contact still in the medical profession, I have clinicals in 2012 Spring.  He just freaked out yesterday about it!  "OMG, I am going to have to Purell you every day you come home!"  Really, think I am going to get cooties while working back in records dept?  Come on, I can only support so much!

  • My darling husband makes it twice this week.  Well he earned it, in spades.  As stated above, he is high maintenance.  So, there are many things he will want, than see grass is "cleaner" on the other side and switch attitude on a whim.  Most times I can catch on before it happens, and I totally call him on it, support him full while announcing that I am once again right trying to educate him.  There were a couple times this week where that has happened.  With everything that is going on, I forget the specifics.

  • *For those who have lived under a rock, Marsha is one of my Collective Soul fan buddies.  She lives in Atlanta.  It's under water right now. Hence her TTMOT edition to this weeks blogMarsha's Gripe: AT&T for starters! Trying 2 tell me that being online will cause my phone 2 go 2 voice mail! WRONG!I have no land line now because of the rain-wonderful! could be worse, I do realize that. But AT&T just chaps my hide!

****My solution to you my dear is pretty high tech since they have monopoly on the I phone:

Last one for me for the week.  Going on to campus to meet with my new advisers, I saw flashed back to when I actually attended college the first time.  Dude was busting a move outside his beat up pickup stopping to flash me a wannabe killer "hey baby" smile.   Not impressed at all dude, I saw you all I could think of was this:

My weekend in a picture!

I love my family, but Logan needs to be in school and Corey needs to be at work for me to be sane.

Week in Review

Monday- I bought  the Heel-Tastic as seen on the Tv Show Pitchmen.  I will with hold my full review for a few more days, but I will say it is impressive.  I also bought a little shaved ice machine for Logan.  Yep I am the coolest Mom (at least for that moment).

Tuesday- Logan's teacher was back from bereavement leave.  Her FIL passed away Thursday.  Logan was ecstatic for her coming back.  We watched Flipping Out, my reality TV guilty pleasure.

Wednesday-The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown came out.  I had pre ordered it a while back.  Promise by Amazon it would download to my Kindle starting at 12:01.  So to the moron who was to do it, sometime between 2:15-6am is NOT 12:01.  Psst also don't tell me the email address that is assigned to my Kindle is not valid, it was.  I called on Thursday to the help desk.  Yep, took me two days to cool off from that night.  elp dfesk there is AMAZING he credited me for the total cost without me even asking.  Asking if I had any other suggestions, which I did cover for the buttons and waterproof case as the Trendy Digital ones look great but break so fast.  I am reading slowly The Lost Symbol now, I am 89% of the way through the book.  Wow, is about all I can say.

I also met with my new adviser(Shawna), who told me I get another adviser come November.  She just happens to be my instructor in 2 classes this semester (Joni).   While in the not November adviser's office she set up a plan for me to get the double diploma, and combining my 2 clinical into one set.  That will save me time and money.   AS I was leaving I ran across Joni, and stopped to talk to her.  She invited me to a faculty luncheon.  I had to decline as I wanted to go eat by myself for a change at the Mexi resterant, AND had to go get supplies for the haunted house.

Thursday- I totally took the day off of doing school work.  Got house cleaning done.  And that is so about it.

Friday- Off to the Gym again.  Logan got brown bears all week long.  WTG kiddo!  Took a few tests and am ahead in every class by at least one week.  Whoot, Whoot!

Saturday- Was an all out wonderful weather day here.  Logan was annoying and Corey was OCDing in over drive.  It was hell Corey tossed a fit about the aerator not seeming to be put together right.  Umm, don't read instructions no wonder why.  It was 3 hour tizzy fit!

Nebraska let VT win in the last 3 minutes.  It was dark times in the house let me tell you.

I bought a darling sock monkey from Mama Mel's Esty shop.   I have been bugging her for a yellow one since she started making these little dudes.

***If you have a little dude check out her onsies with a "tie" too!  Logan would have loved these as a baby.

I took a couple more tests and called it a night retiring to a bath and Kindle to forget the day.

Two good things is Wisconsin killed the opposition, and that took the sting off of the Husker loss.  But only a bit.  And Collective Soul was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.  Well deserved honor, congratulations!  Next stop Rock and Roll Hall of Fame boys!

Sunday-  Logan is a pissy-face little demon this morning, and he takes after Corey (hint hint).  I just want to escape for the day, though I know it will not happen.  A girl can wish can't she?  Corey is trying to get Logan to tie his shoe.  They are just sitting there arguing, Logan's attitude, Corey's short temper. {looking for the escape hatch} I have to go mediate, and I just don't get paid enough to do this some days.

I hope the Packers do well today.

Things to look forward to next week:

Logan has 1/2 day Thursday, and off Friday.  That is code for I put him in a class on Friday at the museum.  For both of our sanity his education.

Monday while Logan is in school, Corey and I may take a quick trip to Kearney to go to Cabelas.  There is 2 jackets up there Corey wants to look at.  Because the 15 other coats he has are so last season.

Corey goes back to work Tuesday on days.  So, I get the days to myself totally to do school work, and working out. I plan on doing a couple computer labs this week, and have one chapter of both intro to HIM and med terms to get done.

Corey's schedual is all messed up this week, leaving him working on Saturday.  That means no visit to the inlaws next week.  Everyone say it together, damn... ;-P

As always I look forward to what Kristi will come up with to antagonize me.  Bring it Sista!

Yeppers!

Thanks Kristi, too damn funny!  I haven't had Mad Cow, yet.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday

I have a slight addition to reading books.  Got a Kindle and saved a forest or two at least in the 4-5 months of having it.  Yes, eco-me, beat that you tree hugging hippies!  Danger, many many books at your fingertips whenever you want them.  Take last night when I started reading about midnight and stopped at three-ish.  Now, I knew fully Logan would be up at 6am.  I had to finish the book I had started the night before and start reading The Lost Symbol.  My nose is in textbooks or dealing with shat at home all day long, it is my escape.  I admit I may have an issue as I am dragging ass this morning.  I have a meeting in 30, but I am bringing my Kindle just in case there is a wait.

Ticks Me off Tuesday

So there are an awful lot of things over the week that make me take pause and then usually blurt out "Oh come the hell on...really?!?!"  Here are some of this past week.

  • Amazon.com, oh how far you had come from 2 years ago when you totally screwed me over on my Collective Soul CD "pre order,"  Kindle 2 was working splendidly, you suggested I go deluxe on the Rabbit. I was loving you man, truly.  Till this morning at least.  The Lost Symbol was touted to be released at midnight, Dan Browns highly anticipated sequel to DiVinci Code. I putzed till midnight to make sure the book pulled down, I synced the damn thing about 50 times in that 1st 30minutes.  Nada.  I was mad, I emailed you all, you emailed me back basically telling me to use another address.

This caused me to get out of bed, turn on the computer and try to remember my hotmail logon stuff (aka junk email account set up just for you guys since you send 15 emails a day).  I sent you a second email from hotmail, it was a copy and paste of the other with an addendum that you all sucked.  By 2 am you ass hats still had not pulled it down to my Kindle.  Now REALLY should we be pimping how great and awesome a product is if we can't get it to said consumers as promised?  I had to go to bed as little dude would be up bright and early and 4 hours of sleep doesn't fit well with my usual cheery disposition (even if that is the usual running average).   Obviously my email was read and someone had an "Oh Shit" moment and put it across to the Kindle while I slept.  I may be grasping at straws, but is may have had something to do with the fact the phone lines would be opening soon and you didn't want to pick it up and have me on the other line...again.
I will give you a hint not #1, or #2 last night if I would have got in contact with someone after that email you sent me.

This one is likely to offend at least one of my readers I am sure:

  • Lazy dog owners.  WE all know about my skeezy neighbor and his dog Sonny using the entire streets yards as his personal shat box.  He really seems to favor bringing his "business to our yard.  Last week we found on of his watery poos on our front walkway.  How very classy.  This being said, I am also not for the lazy-ass owners who have their dogs piss and shat on those god awful potty pads in the house.  I am sorry it is just wrong!  If you are too lazy to either walk your dog outside so they can go to the loo, I'mmmm thinkin' you shouldn't have a dog.  They are still pissing and crapping in your house.  No matter which way you spin it, it's not house trained when doing it's business in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same subject litter boxes for dogs...REALLY?  Again, too lazy to let out dog?  Get a damned cat.  Dog=outside bathroom, Cat=litterbox.  <----it is just how it is supposed to be people!  So as I was sitting up last night waiting for me book to download to my Kindle, I was channel flipping and came acrosse this little beauty.

The Potty Patch, says it even smells like real grass.  Tag line should be something like, "For those who know your dog want's to go outside, but are to lazy to let them out."

  • My mother.  She is always an easy target for these weekly rants.  Just the mere thought of her can sometimes send me into a tirade.  After listening to her talk up my sister who is a moron trying really hard to do something with her life. The topic turned to me and school.  This week will feature her motherly comments about me in school...go ahead, feel the loathe love!
  M: How is school going?
Me: Fine.  Working hard seems like my face is constantly in one book or another.
M: I don't understand why you are going back to school. (yea, she said that..but wait there's more!)
Me: I want a degree that allows me to work from home, for Logan.
M: Why do you want to work?  (can you guess who she voted for in the last election)
Me: There is no reason for me not to be doing something. (now, I should have seen the signs the next comment was coming.)
M: So you think you are better than everyone else because you have beauty and brains.  I think you are just flaunting it.
Me: Umm, gotta go, great talking to you Mommy Dearest. (she REALLY hates when I call her that!)

The moral from this convrosation is my mother honestly hates the idea of me in school, if not me myself.  She has this convoluted fantisy that I am some beautiful thing that shouldn't have to use a lick of intellect to do anything.  For the record, so NOT beautiful here, I will give you, I am unique looking, but that is about where I draw the line.  My whole life I have had the phrase "brains and beauty" spat at me hatefully from her.  I honestly have no idea what her problem is, but it is deep seated and very much against me doing anything overly constructive with my life.  She can bite me.

This one is for my husband, but I see his point.  Which of these things don't belong?

If you said Imus you are wrong!  He will be replacing Alexis Glick's Money for Breakfast soon.  All I have to say is REALLY?  I could see him on Fox, but not the business channel.   Hello ratings bump for CNBC.

  • Twitter, you have been topic of this blog for a while now.  With your un following me (still not being followed BTW) from Collective Soul, but now having "issues" when I try to log on via the puter.  Guess I will just have to use tweetdeck, you flippin' jerks!
I go to Twitter.com and get this:
"Service Temporarily Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.  Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

As this day rolls on, I am likely to add more to this be it from me or others who want me to post stuff for them.  Check back often!

This very simple idea was posted my Midwesy Mommy.  I think her adding a mclinky to it so we can all have our rants is just fab.  Check her blog out for more Totally Ticks me off Tuesdays fun!
