  • So lets all give thanks for what we do have and not be petty if just for this one day a year.  Let's not dwell on  what we don't have or think we should have.  There are so many out there that sit with so much less then we have.  Be thankful, be gracious.

Ticks Me Off Tuesday

While I sit in Nebraska watching the damn corn fields finally go down, and hustling to get all my classes done, my brain has decided to sat "Screw you" to me.

 For instance:
So I am not overly tight with anyone in my family.  in one way or another they were mostly assholes, if not totally.  Last night my step monster mother calls to thank me for the card and the gift I had sent to her.  First I thought "OMG, I sent something?"  Then I remembered I actually did send not just a card, but a gift.  I talked nicely for a while but really there is a HUGE disconnect with me and a good chunk of the famdamily back home.  Always will be.  It pretty much took till the end of the conversation to remember what I sent to her.  Yeah, *fail* And if you were wondering it was a set of really cute La Sophia earrings, I know this because she mentioned it near the end of the convro.  I have come to the conclusion my brain oblivious works on some sort of selective auto-pilot.
brain Pictures, Images and Photos
The paper for school, and by THE paper, I mean it's like my class map.  My plan for the rest of my time in college is gone.  Its the list of what and everything I need to take each semester, with signatures to get me into some classes while not some others.  WTF, if I had not looked for it or needed it today I would have it at my finger tips.   I think the brain is revolting and hiding it from me.  I don't think I ever moved it so did the weatherman move it, he says no, little dude can touch it and Sully is totally off the hook for it as it was in the Do Not Touch Area of the Counter...  I'm getting paranoid, I need this for my meeting with my newest victim adviser.
conspiracy cat Pictures, Images and Photos
My last bit of evidence of brain vacation was actually quite amusing.  I would have been LMAO if I had witnessed this happening to someone else.  Sunday night, I just got done with the endocrine system in med terms.  It was a 20 minute test that molests your brain in ways you don't like to admit.  20 minutes to do fill in the blank where spelling counts, some multiple guess choice.  Did I mention that there are over 30 questions? Shat.  Soo, after passing the test the next chapters test unlocked.  I was going to do the extra credit, read the chapter and get another test done, leaving one in the class left.  I was all about doing this, brain, not so much!  I open the book and look Reproductive System.  Cool, I can do that easily, right?
village wrong - you Pictures, Images and Photos
I started reading about the male reproductive system, the word "penis" came up.  I broke out in a giggle fit.  Whats wrong with that.  Well little dude was asleep upstairs, weatherman was at work, so it was just me and Sully.  I composed myself and continued reading.  The word came up again, and up again, it was rising to my eyes just too much for my fragile brain I guess, because it happened again.  Giggle, giggle, with the added snort for good measure.
robert pattinson Pictures, Images and Photos
(that's for the New Moon fans)

By the time it was over I was in tears from laughing so hard.  Again, BY MYSELF, Sully was even looking at me to shut the duck up!   So I came to the conclusion that one chapter a day for that class, TG there are only two left.  At least all my classes are done via the net, could you just see me doing this (if not, you must not know me well enough)?
Brain is full Pictures, Images and Photos
This is not the first time I have had this issue though.  Mommy Dearest gave me this on a tee-shirt for my sweet 16.  So supportive.

Lemon Cake

So there was baking talk on twitter this morning, inner mixed with the usual suspected topics.  So, I decided to bust out a recipe that is easy and in this lemon lovers opinion, super yummy!  No this isn't my pic, because I don't have the fluted Pampered Chef Stone...yet!  But this will give you an idea of what it will look like.  This is a "heavy" cake, you will know what I mean as you pull it cooked out of the oven.  Enjoy!

Lemon Cake

Dissolve 1 regular box of lemon Jell-O in 1c boiling water. Cool.

1package of lemon cake mix
4eggs
3/4c oil

Glaze:
1/3c lemon juice (I use real lemons)
2c powdered sugar

Mix together. Add cooled Jell-O. Mix for 3 minutes. Pour into 9x13 cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until done. Remove pan from oven. Immediately poke holes in cake with fork. Pour glaze over cake Return to warm oven for 5 minutes.

Dear Verizon, you suck

Trash Talk Pictures, Images and Photos

Here is the email sent to corporate Verizon headquarters this evening.  All started because I was curious if we were eligible for the 20% fed employee discount Verizon offers it's customers.  Silly me thinking I pay 150 a month to them now since they about out Alltel that we were customers of them.   Customer service is HUGE to me with having a marketing background I see Verizon setting themselves up for a FAIL of epic proportions.  Yes, I am but one person, but it takes a single snowflake to start an avalanche.

I was told we are "not really customers of Verizon, they just bought us along with the company."  Me, being the smart ass I am business savvy person I am said, "So, I really don't have to pay the 150 a month to you then?"  Yeah, this didn't go over so well with first dude on the phone.  He basically told me to go to the website and let it deal with me.  Strike one for lack of customer service via the phone.
Sadly, I work customer service Pictures, Images and
Photos
I thought maybe the old Alltel store/new Verizon store can help me out.  Clarify, maybe even answer my questions.  After approx 20 minutes of waiting, I was brought to the cattle line-up they call the assistance line.  It is really shoulder to shoulder people on one side Verizon staff on the other.  Where I was asked 3 times for my phone number.  She couldn't hear me.  Hmm, I am usually told I am too loud.  I bet this guy who was a set of shoulders away was more then happy to get my digits.

I asked her a simple question.  What am I as a former Alltel customer to Verizon?  Her response, yeppers I ended up with a chick to not help me was we don't really count.  I beg for flipping pardon? She suggested all helpful like to cancel our current plan 3.5 months into it and just re-up with Verizon.  Simple solution.  In the real world where the rest of us reside that means:  Cancel 2 lines-$500, get rid of BB phones we just bought $300.  New phones $200 each, approx phone activation $40 each, and plan before tax a month $140 (so like 175 a month).   So the Simple solution to Verizon is to spend about $1000 to become a true customer to Verizon.  But wait, didn't Verizon buy Alltel?  Yep, so we should already be customers.  We should be true customers already.  See the "seamless conversion" load of crap they fed us during the hostile takeover.  I was so appalled by her explanation I turned away and walked out.  I am pretty damn sure her and the whole store heard me loud and clear when I said they are making it really tempting to go across the street and go to Veiaro who is a local wireless store that buys out the other places contracts.

Mod Strike Pictures, Images and Photos
I was livid walking out of the Verizon store.  Yes, I was public about it.  And no, I am not sorry about it.  I called the weatherman he told me to call them back and lay into them.  I deserved it.  Damn, I knew I married him for some reason.  My guess he didn't want to deal with me tonight when he got home without me exploding at someone else.
Explode Pictures, Images and Photos But whatever.
So I call Verizon again, the lady was somewhat nice but still no help at all.  Insulting me further by telling me I as a consumer should have researched further before re-upping with Alltel before the buy out.  I was about as close to losing it as I had been all night at that point.  I then proceeded to enlighten her I write research papers, as well as do marketing research as a hobby. Yeah, whoopsie you, lady!   This convrosation was going nowhere but circles, so I ended it shortly afterwards.  Waiting for the followup survey that never occured. The I decided to take matters to corporate and penned this darling letter.  You will note there are no full out cuss words in it, impressive I know...

I would like someone from corporate to contact me via the telephone and explain why the "seamless"
conversion is anything but for many of us.  You flat out lied about during the take over of Alltel.  We are treated anything but equals.

I wanted to believe you had changed in 5 years, I was excited about it even.  What have I gotten in the last month?  Worse coverage, more network errors, and told I an basically the red headed step child of your company.

You bought out MY company, you own the phones/contracts along with the revenue from the customers.   I am told we don't get the benefits you offer because we don't have your contract/phones.  Silly me but buying out a company and saying the takeover will be seamless/ be welcomed with open arms pertains to what exactly?

According to your Customer-no service reps and those "trained" in the old Alltel store it doesn't mean your phones, your coverage, and not your discounts.  You have essentially promised the Alltel customers the moon and gave us nothing but your name on the bill.  I was getting crappy enough service with Alltel thank you very much.  There is no need to take it to another level and tell me I have to pay you all for the next 18 months and get crap in return.  At least with them after a while I got some help.  And if you think I am alone in this gripe, check the world wide Web you are surpassing AT&T in gripes.  Not good.  My advise, you bought us, you treat us as equal.

Don't tell me to cancel, pay the fee to you, and re-up with you and pay all over again.  Really do you think we are all that thick?  It may work for some, but others know other companies will be happy to buy out our contracts and they are looking pretty good right now to many of us.

I have now been with your company since '02.  We with you before Alltel.  So are you really going to treat a customer of almost 8 years this poorly?  Step up use integrity with those you bought.

~Krimsin King
$
P.S. I was serious about the phone call.

So the ball is in Verizon's court now. I'm not letting this go.  How will they deal with someone who is writing by herself, but speaking for so many of their customers?  I guess we shall see.  I urge all former Alltel people, now with Verizon to Call, write and yell at the top of your lungs to Verizon to address us to our face and treat us as equal customers, not just as a form of your revenue.  And if I want to be treated like crap from someone I won't pay for it, I'll just call the family.  So Verizion if you keep treating us old Alltel people like second rate members of the company you should change you slogan from:

To this:
Can you hear me now? Pictures, Images and Photos

He could be normal when he gets older, maybe

I know I missed the last 2 weeks of Week in Review, the 411 on the Haunted House, and this weeks TMOT, sorry.  Been up to my eyeballs in one thing or another.

Here is a little somethin' somethin' to keep you satisfied till I can get bak in the swing of things:

Convros with the weatherman, K this one is a text

Weatherman: When is the block meeting?
Me: 16th
Weatherman: Where?
Me: Don't know yet, they havn't decided.
Weatherman:Can you call ---, run out get milk before I get home, and what's for dinner
Me:  My day is going just fine thanks, up to my eyeballs in book to get these classes done...
Weatherman:Call my parents if they will be home XX weekend. {about here I lose it}
Me: I am gonna go all Philli Transit worker on your ass.
Weatherman: Sooo, are you threatening me?
Me: Bunghole, it's bunghole rookie.
Weatherman: lol, I'll let you get back to school work.

I am notorious for speaking my mind.  I also quote movies randomly when reminded of them can find someone who looks like someone famous and begin to address them as said person.
Last night was one of those never al dull moments around me.  Setting the scene Little Dude is at Tae Kwon Do and Weatherman and I decide to go walk the downtown area while he's busy.  We sit down for a cookie at Eileen's Collasal Cookie.  As we sit we make idle chit chat, cookies done I stand, turn around and I shat you not this 7 foot at least 2 inch woman walks in.  Being oh so tactful I turn bouncing up and down to Weatherman all I could think of whs this:
He knew what I was thinking and as we left may have been overheard saying it!

So today we were out at Come and Get It BBQ, and were looking at people as we always do.  And in walked in little Jeffery Dalhmer.  He sat across the upper deck from us.  I looked at Corey and pointed him out, taking a big bite out of my potato.  Corey decided put his 2cents in and quipped as his pulled pork was delivered to his table. "Mmmm, human, tastes like chicken Pictures, Images and Photos How classy are we?  I know he TOTALLY knew we were talking about him too!

Those are just two of the things that have occurred with us lately.  Please tell me you all have odd convros in your home too!

Our kid stands a chance of being normal...really

So What Would You Do?

Color us lucky ducky.  So what would you do if you got a phone call and you were told you HAD to spend $1000 for Christmas?  No putting into savings, or spending it directly on little dude, just us.  The person(s) who gave this to us knows us too well!  For me it was quite simple.  Corey wanted a new recliner, one fit logically nowhere in the shatty layout.  So we need two recliners. To make this gel we have to put the couch to go upstairs where I am sporting lawn furniture.  Yep, you read right lawn furniture.  Since I am in denial that I am not in a cabin up north, I decided to delusionally live with them in the house with the layout from hell

I cannot fathom what the hell the builder was smoking thinking as he designed this 3 story disaster home.  This area is to be a dining room but it is the only place in the level you see other than the kitchen. IT logically doesn't make sense.  Oh and the weather man just HAD to have this house we unanimously agreed to buy this house this house for the acreage, and the school district.  The area I want the couch in has a buffet we are babysitting till further notice for my MIL, so that needs to go to the spare junk room we lovingly call the "guitar room."  Since that is where the weatherman keeps all his guitars, amps, and shat.  So what will go in the place of the buffet?  Well the 42inch TV from the family room of course!  We would wire it up to Dish and put the Wii up there.  So Little dude can play Wii and we can watch TV or vice verse (doesn't matter he has a 32inch plasma in his own damn room).  The chairs will come from NE Furniture Mart as that is where the Sofa and love seats came from.  It will match the other Ashley items we have with the faux suede dark green color.

And the prices can't be beat @289 a pop and 55 total for shipping!  Score!  So now do we use the excess money for assistance on the $1600 for the downstairs?  Or a new mini-laptop computer?  I am guessing the mini laptop will come first and once the taxes are all done.  But who knows maybe the weather man will get into the spirit and pay for both. Financially we could do it flat out and easily, but fiscally we are cheap arses.  We are grateful for the pay the weather man gets for sure.  But, when we splurge we do it well, take for examples the Mother/Fathers day gifts last year.  Amazing how much access money you have when you are not buying a new vehical everytime the new car smell is gone!  You know like a new college edumcation for the lady of the house.

So what would you do, if you could only spend it on you, your hubby, BF, ect?  Remember not directly on the demons offspring, or any into savings.

Ticks Me Off Tuesday

I am calling Shenanigans on the Adams Central School District.  I understand our football team is red hot and their team ain't diddly-squat.  I know that every day our little demons cherubs are in school they are leaning important lessons on life like how to piss off others other than their parents.  For this reason alone I was shocked and appalled to read you went from a 1/2 day this Friday to giving the kids the full day off.

Now you score big with the student body, but not with those who pay your wages.  I understand you don't want them either and are just making it an excuse are trying to teach all the kids to rally around their football team, starting the brainwashing as only Nebraska can do for football, impressive.  I cna't wait to see what I am going to have to do when now every week this month I have at least 3 day weekends with little dude.  You think only I am pissy about it.  Oh know, little dude feels the same way.  He is very hardcore when it comes to screwing around and annoying more than just me scholastic.   After 5 years every day with me, do you blame the kid.  I sure don't and feeling is mutual.  I love himn, he loves me.  But I think we both enjoy the space from each other.  So for taking another day off just because, AC school district you with the Tick Me Off Tuesday Award for me for the week.
  • Totally Tick Me Off Tuesday is the brain child of Mommy from the Midwest.  Check out her blog, and look for more people who participate in TTMOT!  This is her "award" to those who Tick us off weekly.  I posthumously award it this week to all of those who have ticked us off!

Next up the Nobel Prize baby!

I am truly touched my all that read my blog, you know I luv you all!  I am just tickled when I receive an award too, its acknowledgment that I haven't offended too much, and the devotion to this blog and less to my studies is worth it! This recent bit of blogity love is from Confessions From A Working Mom who is not offended by my blond jokes...yet.  (I can't help it, my sister is blond and we nicknamed her Kelly Bundy at a young age.  Pretty much typecast her for life.  So when I make a swipe at blonds, its really at my sister, no one else who's hair color may fall on the lighter side of the color spectrum unless otherwise stated.  I digress on to the award) {looks for the speech, checks bra to see if I put it in between cleavage for safe keeping...nope.  WTH, lets improve}

I always wonder when I write some of the things I do whether or not if I really interest people, or if I am like a car crash.  You thinks you are about looking, but rubber neck to read what tangent I may have gone on about this post. Confessions From A Working Mom is one of my newest readers, making this award all the more special!  Next up Nobel for literature, I can feel it.  After all it was proven in the last few years Americans can make shat up, or do nothing at all and get one...

Here are the rules of the award:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link to their blog. (check)
2. Share 10 honest things about yourself. (check)
3. Present this award to 7 other whose blogs you find brilliant in design or content. (check)
4. Tell those 7 people they have been awarded. (almost check...)

10 Honest things about me:
  1. My name really is Krimsin, has been since the day I was born.  Many don't believe it, and the last name of King was married into, not after the psycadelic band.
  2. I sometimes wonder if I am fit to be a parent.  I am not exactly the most tactful person in the world.  But so far the little dude isn't a foul mouthed heathen, thank god!  When he says something inappropriate I laugh because it was funny act like what he said brought me to tears and he doesn't do it again.  See, parental quandary.
  3. I love my husband.  But when he is home he bothers me.  I like him at work so I can get my stuff done, on my own time, not around his wants and whims.
  4. I hate homes that have bedrooms on the first floor.  Too easy for someone to break in.
  5. I can cook and bake, I just chose to not because it's faster to have someone else clean up instead.
  6. I have never really fit in peer group wise.  And though I can gel when in a group, I always feel odd.
  7. I miss acting, but know my husband doesn't want me doing it so I gave it up long ago.  The haunted house the other night made me miss it all over again.  I miss the improvisations.
  8. I didn't start drinking mochas until right before little dude started kindergarten, now I am hooked.
  9. I would rather be blogging and social networking then doing class work.
  10. The weatherman thinks I am taking a test for class as I am typing this.
Time to spread the love, if you have this award again, too bad!
